Finished Dosage Formulations (FDF)

Transdermal and Topical Patch Technology

Transdermal drug delivery system can offer advantages over oral or parenteral medication by delivery mode avoiding “first-pass” inactivation in the liver, elimination of gastrointestinal irritation, steady absorption of medication over long periods of time, reducing the frequency of dosing, self administration, improved patient compliance, and lowering the frequency of adverse effects through the avoidance of high serum drug peaks.

Facility

  • Bulk manufacturing tanks
  • Casting, coating and drying machine
  • Cutting and pouching machine

Technology

With a specialized expertise in transdermal technology and drug delivery, NSRT has created various proprietary transdermal drug delivery systems: including our Platform Matrix Technology and Hydrogel Based Transdermal Patches.

  • The PLATFORM MATRIX technology uses hydrophobic adhesives to deliver API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) through the skin. The matrix is capable of controlling the drug release for 24 hours. Almost all the drugs candidates of transdermal drug delivery system can be delivered through PLATFORM MATRIX Technology without addition of irritating permeation enhancers.

Salient Features
  • Ideal for systemic drug delivery.
  • Well suited for formulation of various class of drugs
  • Offers controlled rate of drug release
  • Requires low loading of API with higher % of surface activity and better diffusion across the skin
  • Capable of incorporating API irrespective of physical form of either liquid, solid or semi-solid.
  • Suitable to deliver API systemically at a constant rate, and can be regulated with the use of rate control membrane for high-flux API.
  • The Matrix is thin, elegant and comfortable, and can be applicable for up to seven days.
  • The HYDROGEL technology uses hydrophilic adhesives to create a skin-friendly formulation.
  • Salient Features
    • Primarily used for topical administration.
    • Self-adhesive patch to be applied directly to the point of pain.
    • Prepared with jelly-like hydro-absorptive polymolecular compound.
    • The Hydrogel formulation contains high amount of water that provides a fresh cooling effect on the skin.

Implantable Drug Delivery System

This drug delivery system consists of a small, solid structure in elongated form (similar to match stick) which will be made from a mixture of polymers and a drug substance. The resulting product is a solid matrix that is placed subcutaneously or intramuscularly in a simple office procedure. The drug substance is released slowly, at continuous levels, through the process of diffusion.

Facility

  • Extruder of variable sizes
  • Casting dies of variable sizes

Technology

At NSRT we have developed Long-term, drug delivery platform which provides continuous, non-fluctuating drug release over a period of three months to a year depending on drug characteristics.

Salient Features
  • Improved efficiency
  • Reduction in total drug usage when compared with conventional therapy
  • Reduction in drug level fluctuation in blood
  • Linear delivery for long periods of time, from a few weeks to many months
  • Reduction in frequency of drug administration
  • Reduced side effects
  • Convenient therapy
  • Plasma drug levels are continuously maintained in a therapeutically desirable range Administration of drugs having short in vivo half-lives maybe greatly facilitated

Oral Solid Dosage Form (OSDs)

Oral route of drug delivery is the most widely utilized route of administration among all the routes for the systemic delivery of drugs.
Our R&D philosophy for Generics has evolved along multiple dimensions from simple, oral solid-based products to complex OSDs.

abuse deterrent, sustained release

  • Generic Formulations, including tablets, capsules and pellets, is a part of our business portfolio, developing products across the major therapeutic areas of gastrointestinal ailments, cardiovascular disease, pain management, anti-infective and dermatology
  • NSRT portfolio is filled with Layered tablets

Semi Solid and Liquid Formulations

Pharmaceutical creams and ointments are semisolid preparations containing one or more agents dissolved or dispersed in either water-in-oil emulsion or oil-in-water emulsion or in any other type of water-washable base.

Pharmaceutical liquid formulations are intended for both oral and per-oral routes.

Contract Manufacturing Services

We also offer contract manufacturing services in the areas of:

  • Commercially-viable, efficient, and novel routes for chemical drug synthesis
  • Commercially-viable development of all routine Drug delivery systems (DDS), as well as in the following specialized DDS:
    • Drug-layering / Pellet coating / Modified release tablets and capsules
    • Transdermal & buccal sprays, films, patches
    • Sustained release and lyophilised injections and implants
    • Nano-formulations such as Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs), Sustained-release microspheres, etc.

Injectable Formulations

Facility

  • Magnetic and Over-head stirrers
  • Homogenizers
  • Lyophilizer
  • Autoclave

Technology

NSRT believes in delivering of not only an instant relief but also persistent relief. Injectable formulations being worked upon at NSRT are

  • Immediate release solution injection by solubilization techniques
  • Lyophilized injections to increase solubility & stability of active substance
  • Depot injections to increase patient compliance as the patient need not take medicine daily, especially in long term treatment regimen, for example in treatment of addiction, chronic pain management, hormone therapy etc.
